About the Event

It is with profound sorrow that we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Reverend Doctor Edward P. Harding, Jr., the Senior Pastor of Prince George’s Community Church. Reverend Doctor Harding, age 63, was not only a cherished member of our community but also a beacon of light and hope for countless individuals whose lives he touched.

A native of Garysburg, North Carolina, Reverend Doctor Harding was educated in the public schools of Northampton County. He pursued higher education diligently, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (with honors) from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Subsequently, he obtained his Master of Divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut.

Reverend Doctor Harding's commitment to ministry was exemplary. He previously served as the pastor of Northeastern Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Massachusetts. Throughout his career, he focused on strengthening the faith of his parishioners and extending the church's mission to serve and assist those in need within the community.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Reverend Doctor Harding was actively involved in various organizations, committees, and executive boards, including the Prince George’s Leadership Action Network(PLAN) and an initiating Co-Chair. He held the esteemed position of Field Staff for the New Church Development Program of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served as the 2008 Moderator for the National Capitol Presbytery. Currently, he directed field education at the Howard University Divinity School.

Reverend Doctor Harding shared a blessed union with his beloved wife, Karen Brown. Together, they were the proud parents of one daughter, Tuere, and one son, Edward III.

As we reflect on Reverend Doctor Edward Harding, Jr.'s life and legacy, let us remember his unwavering dedication to faith, service, and compassion. Please join us in offering thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, congregation, and all who mourn his loss.

May Reverend Doctor Edward Harding, Jr. rest in eternal peace, knowing that his profound impact on our lives will be cherished and remembered always.

Sincerely,

Coleman Milling, PLAN Lead Organizer
